About Kentucky Retail Institute
The purpose of the Kentucky Retail Institute, Inc. is to promote the education of students interested in entering the field of retail or students connected to the field of retail. It is a benefit of Kentucky Retail Federation membership.
KRI serves as the program intermediary by registering the apprentice with the US Department of Labor, exploring funding options, and connecting the apprentice with the retailer.
Why is the Institute Needed?
Retail is the nation’s largest employer. Retail supports 1 in 4 American jobs, and retail is the largest private-sector employer in Kentucky.
Registered apprenticeships are being recognized as a valuable and accepted post-secondary option for students, proving to be a seamless career pathway that leads to gainful employment with little to no student dept. They also reinforce employability skills and the importance of attendance. A competitive recruiting environment is being created among students and employers.
